Remarks: Also called the Scalefin or Orange Anthias. Ubiquitous around coral outcrops, lagoon, and outer reefs. Does best in a group. A hardy beauty. Male have extremely elongate third dorsal spine, mauve with orange spot on mose body scales and red spot on outer half of pectoral fin. Female orange, with bright orange stripe behind eye. Inexpensive, colorful, and hardy. Red Sea/Indian Ocean variant is more vibrant than its pacific counterpart.
