Max. Size: 22 cm (8.5")
Range: Arabian Peninsula
Depth: 2 - 20m (6.5 - 65.5ft)

Remarks: Also called the Yellowtail Tang. A hardy and gorgeous Red Sea native that commands a high price. Very territorial and aggressive toward other tangs and some angelfish, especially if the other fish is added after the Purple Tang has settled into its environment. For that reason this should be the last fish added to the aquarium. And even then sometimes it can still get really aggressive. Attitude seems to harden as the fish matures. A large aquarium is the best solution to alleviate its aggression to allow room for the fish to graze and avoid each other as much as possible.
