Remarks: The Regal Angelfish is the only species in the genus Pygoplites. The yellow belly form only show in those from Indian Ocean and Red Sea. Temperament can also differ based on regions. Those from Indian Ocean and Red Sea are bolder in manner than the ones from Pacific Ocean, and have shown to be more readily accepting prepared foods in captivity. Juveniles of all regions have a blue ocellus or eye spot on the soft dorsal fin.
