LPS (Large Polyp Stony) Corals are a diverse bunch. From Goniopora, to Alveopora, Cyphastrea, Trachyphyllia, Acanthastrea, Acanthophyllia, Favia, Platygyra, Favites, not to mention all the Euphyllia (Torches, Hammers, Frogspawns, and Octospawns) the list goes on and on. In general, LPS corals are easier to keep than their SPS counterparts, as they're slightly more forgiving of imperfect parameters and require less intense light and flow.
If you're looking for colorful corals and some movement in your tank, then odds are you're eying an LPS piece. Whichever type of LPS coral you like, as long as your tank is established, go for it; try a Euphyllia or Alveopora. You won't regret it.
Make sure you do your research on individual types, as some LPS can have very different care guides and may require regular broadcast feeding (Goniopora) or benefit from occasional spot feeding (Acanthastrea), or desire less light (Goniopora/Acanthastrea).
Whichever type(s) of LPS you decide to add to your reef, know that Pieces of the Ocean is your direct source for live large polyp stony corals. You can always find a wide range of LPS corals for sale on our site. Shop now!
