POTO Visits Polo Reef
It's been over 2 years since we last visited Polo Reef, Andrew Sandler's 17,000-gallon reef aquarium. Last time, Andrew had just started to add the first few corals. This time, we got to see how the corals have grown. And boy how they have grown!
I was super excited as I got to photograph the big tank from top down. We have seen all the videos. But not much has been shown of the corals up close, especially the ones from us. The tank is absolutely massive. To give you a sense of size, there is a few thousand gallon of water just inside the PVC pipes at any given time. When seen in person, it truly brings you a sense of being on a wild reef.
And as if that is not extreme enough, Andrew is also an avid rare fish collector. A majority of the world's holy grail caliber fish in the saltwater aquarium hobby is found in Andrew's collection, such as a quartet of Genicanthus personatus, a proven pair of Odontanthias katayamai and Centropyge narcosis.
Enough talk. Feast your eyes on some of the photos I took atop the 17,000-gallon Polo Reef.
